Catching Up 2008

After 2 yrs of not blogging....I'm back.

This is Sophomore yr of Dental Hygiene School. The sophomores were in charge of decorating for the Kiddie Clinic which is a very low fee clinic for children to get dental cleanings, x-rays, and sealants. The theme is under the sea. The above picture is of us making jellyfish to string from the ceiling made out of streamers, tissue paper & shower caps. The picture below is the boat my group and I built to decorate & protect the computer lab.

Below is some of the children I regularly nannied during the summers that I spent home. Some days there were as many as 10 kids from a few different families! Those were busy, crazy nights! The picture shown is of them playing the "flour game". I grew up playing it with my own family. You place a cup-full of packed flour carefully on a plate so it stays whole and then place a penny on top. Then you pass a butter knife around the table taking turns shaving off a slab of flour and the goal is to keep the penny from falling. Originally, the punishment for the person who caused the penny to fall was that they had to push the penny off the plate with their nose resulting in a floured face! The kids had a ball but made such a mess! I also brought a craft for them- we made telephones with paper cups and string. Two of the boys absolutely loved it!

The picture below is the construction of my parents house. This is a picture of the great room looking up at the window and part of the fireplace. It is Beautiful!

In front of our house we had a huge forest of wild sunflowers that grew so tall we could play hide-and-seek in them!!! Unfortunately, when they died it took hours and hours of work to pull them out of the ground since they had become long, hard, dry sticks. There were thousands of them! The picture can be seen below.

My little brother came to stay with me in Flagstaff so I could clean his teeth in the dental clinic. We had an enjoyable couple of days playing tennis with Brittany (who spent most of the time teaching Matt to hit while I shagged the balls), riding the bus through campus, playing cards, and eating at the Union which was his Favorite! He says he wants to go there on his mission so he can eat there everyday. What a cutie! Also included in order on the right is mom's birthday party, Thanksgiving dinner & all of us watching a family show after we wore ourselves out with racquetball/ walleyball. The very last picture is of my friend Jeff who had just come home from his mission. It was great to see him again.
